Job summary

Motion, a leading industrial parts distributor, is seeking a Control Panel Builder II (Service Technician II) to assemble and wire industrial control panels in accordance with UL508A standards. You will interpret blueprints, lay out components, and verify wiring integrity in a hands-on shop setting.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and 3–5 years of shop experience, plus ability to read schematics and work safely with shop equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install industrial control panels with hand and power tools.
  • Read blueprints and schematics and identify components.
  • Wire electro‑mechanical components and verify connections.
  • Test circuit continuity and document modifications on drawings.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Perform general manufacturing tasks when panel work unavailable.

Job description

SUMMARY

As a Control Panel Builder II (Service Technician II), you will be responsible for the wiring and assembly of industrial control panels in accordance with the UL508A Standard

JOB DUTIES
  • Assemble / install industrial control panels using hand and power tools
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics and recognize components
  • Assemble electro‑mechanical components with interconnected wiring
  • Cut, strip, bend and mount wires to connect electrical components within the control panel
  • Document modifications or as‑built conditions on drawings
  • Test continuity of circuits in electrical wiring
  • Work with low voltage electricity and electrical components
  • Work with Engineering staff to help improve quality and efficiency
  • General manufacturing and assembly duties will be assigned when control panel shop work is not available
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Typically requires a high school diploma or GED
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of shop experience or an equivalent combination
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
  • Ability to read schematics
  • Strong communication skills required
  • Basic mechanical knowledge
  • Ability to operate shop equipment safely
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment with minimal supervision
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Push/pull up to 50 pounds
  • Lift/carry up to 50 pounds
  • Lift bulky objects
  • Neck rotation, trunk rotation, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, reach and lift, ladder climb and carry, crawling
  • Noise level may be loud at times
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends if necessary

If you are hired at Motion, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.

Pay: $24.56 - $31.95 / hour
