Job summary

Kansas Health System in Kansas City is seeking a Unit Educator for the Mother/Baby unit at Bell Hospital. This full-time role partners with the Nurse Manager and Unit Coordinator to ensure safe, evidence-based patient care and to plan floor coverage.

You will mentor staff, assess learning needs, develop education plans, coordinate orientation, and promote professional development through in-services and CEU opportunities. A BSN is required; a master's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate
• Bachelor Degree in Nursing required
• BSN required by 2025 for Southwest KC locations; ADN may require progression in BSN within 6 months of hire and completion by third anniversary

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the health care team to ensure safe, evidence-based and high-quality patient care.
• Mentors staff across shifts in clinical competencies and professional behaviors.
• Assesses learning needs, considering generational and cultural differences.
• Implements varied teaching strategies to meet learner needs.
• Documents orientation and educational activities, maintaining employee files per hospital and regulatory requirements.
• Facilitates unit education, in-services, CEU opportunities, and supports professional portfolios.
