Job summary

UPMC Mage-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh seeks a Patient Care Technician for the 56-bed Mother Baby unit. The role provides patient care, supports daily living activities, and assists with procedures in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies, reporting status changes to the RN, and performing core nursing assistant duties such as vital signs and specimen collections. Training is provided, with potential for growth.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Enrollment in a Nursing Program with 1 year of general healthcare experience.
• Completion of at least 1 nursing program clinical rotation.
• Successful completion of UPMC Patient Care Technician class upon hire.
• EMT or Paramedic preferred.
• Licensure/clearances: BLS/CPR and required state/federal clearances.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with daily living activities and procedures.
• Support physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies; notify RN of changes.
• Perform core nursing assistant duties: vital signs, I&O, blood glucose, weights, specimens.
• Carry out additional tasks: phlebotomy, EKG, bladder scans, catheter care as needed.
• Maintain safety and infection control; complete required competencies.
