Position Summary:

The Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Laborer is responsible for the safe and compliant setup, maintenance, and removal of traffic control devices on active job sites. This role plays a critical part in protecting workers, motorists, and pedestrians by following all applicable safety regulations and standards. The MOT Laborer supports heavy civil construction operations by ensuring traffic flow and work zone safety are properly maintained throughout the duration of a project. This individual must be alert, responsive, and committed to upholding a safety-first mindset in dynamic and high-risk environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Comply with (and actively promote) all Safety policies and procedures including reporting all accidents, incidents and near misses to ensure adherence to our Number One Core Value – Safety, first in everything we do.
  • Set up, maintain, and take down traffic control zones in accordance with FDOT, MUTCD, and project-specific guidelines.
  • Inspect work zones regularly to ensure devices remain properly positioned, visible, and in working order.
  • Support site safety efforts by identifying and mitigating traffic-related hazards.
  • Arrive on-site at the scheduled start time and participate in Daily Huddles and Weekly Toolbox Talks.
  • Work cooperatively with field crews and supervision to coordinate traffic control needs with ongoing construction activities.
  • Remain flexible to work day or night shifts, extended hours, weekends, or emergency call-outs as required.
  • Lift, carry, place, and remove signs, cones, barricades, arrow boards, and other control devices throughout the workday.
  • Maintain physical readiness for bending, stooping, lifting, and working in all weather conditions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience MOT Laborer work.Preferred but not required will be open to on-the-job training for the right applicant.
  • MOT Advanced, certified. Preferred but will aid in offering assistance to get MAOT certified with on-the-job training.
  • Knowledge of FDOT and MUTCD standards.Can provide training to the right applicant.
  • Able to follow verbal instructions.
  • Have reliable transportation to get to and from the work site.
  • CDL license preferred but not required.

  • Self-starter with excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Reliance on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
