Qualifications

Key Competencies
  • Technicians are expected to operate and drive a Mosquito Control vehicle safely within their zone.
  • Technicians are required to learn how to use handheld devices for data collection.
  • Technicians must carry and spray areas of standing water with a B&G sprayer.
Job Role Summary

Technicians work independently in one of fifteen Mosquito Control zones. They perform outdoor field work, checking known or potential mosquito breeding sites for larvae, pupae, rafts, or adults. They apply insecticides by spraying or other control measures to reduce or eliminate the mosquito population that can carry diseases or cause nuisances in Marion County.

Essential Duties and Associated Job Duties

Technicians may be asked to answer phones and record information from the public regarding requests for service. They may also perform groundskeeping activities and equipment cleanup chores.

Qualifications

Possession of a valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.

The ability to interact professionally with the public is required. Technicians must navigate around Marion County effectively. They must handle mosquito control chemicals responsibly and operate control tools and machines safely.
