Job summary

American Airlines Credit Union is seeking a Mortgage Underwriter in Fort Worth, TX to support first and second mortgage originations nationwide. You will apply underwriting guidelines, assess employment and credit data, review property valuations and title documents, and ensure data integrity through the credit decision process.

Preferred candidates have 3–5 years in financial services, knowledge of FNMA guidelines, and experience with DU/ Desktop Underwriter, Mortgage Cadence, Episys, and

Qualifications

  • Minimum education includes a high school diploma or GED; preferred is a Bachelor's in Business or related field.
  • 3–5 years experience in financial/banking with knowledge of real estate lending.
  • Experience with conventional underwriting and appraisal review.
  • Familiarity with FNMA guidelines, QM/ATR regulations, and DU/ Desktop Underwriter.
  • Ability to pass pre-hire compliance checks for American Airlines and Credit Union.

Responsibilities

  • Apply underwriting guidelines and federal regulations to loan decisions.
  • Analyze employment, credit, property, and other data for credit decisions.
  • Review and approve property valuations and title/survey documents.
  • Analyze tax returns for individuals and businesses.
  • Communicate conditions and assist in expediting approvals.
  • Maintain data integrity and complete loan conditioning.
  • Prepare HMDA data aggregation and reports; assist with QC reviews.

What you'll do
  • Applyall internal underwriting guidelines, secondary market requirements, and federal regulations to the decision process to ensure loan quality
  • Analyzeand verifies employment profile, credit strength, property characteristics, and all other information pertinent to the credit decision process
  • Reviewand approveproperty valuations
  • Reviewand approvetitle and survey documents
  • Analyzeindividual, joint, and business tax returns

  • Interactwith other individuals involved in the process to obtain information or seeks clarification about documents

  • Reviewand ensuredata integrity to confirm the accuracy of the AUS findings
  • Completeconcise and accurate conditioning of loan files
  • CompileHMDA data aggregation and report compilation
  • Assistwith quality control findings/reviews
  • Maintaina current knowledge of changing legislation and regulatory climates
  • Keeplending team up to date on secondary market lending guidelines and DU enhancements
  • The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the security and confidentiality of all account and related information which is part of their work and for ensuring that his/her work is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act.

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • High school diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related area of study
  • 3 to 5 years relevant experience in a financial/banking institution with strong knowledge of real estate lending products, processes, policies and services
  • Experience in conventional underwriting and appraisal review
  • Experience and knowledge of federal/state laws pertaining to real estate lending and understanding of recent FNMA guidelines and QM/ATR regulations
  • Experience with Fannie Mae Desktop Underwriter

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of loan origination/processing systems, Mortgage Cadence (formerly Prime Alliance), Episys, and Meridian Link
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to manage projects in accordance with short and long range objectives
  • Ability to self-motivate with strong organization skills and capacity for attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Ability to adjust work schedule and work additional hours as needed to support business needs
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory performance and attendance
  • Ability to pass applicable American Airlines and Credit Union pre-hire compliance checks
