Job summary

Acrisure Mortgage, LLC is seeking an experienced Mortgage Loan Underwriter to join our team. This role primarily focuses on underwriting FHA and VA residential loans, ensuring program compliance and regulatory adherence.

You will analyze loan files, review credit and income documents, and communicate decisions to the operations team while maintaining production and quality standards. Remote candidates are welcome.

Qualifications

• 5+ years underwriting FHA/VA residential loans.
• DE or SAR/LAPP certification preferred.
• Encompass experience strongly preferred.
• Associate degree preferred.
• Experience with new home builders preferred.

Responsibilities

Acrisure Mortgage, a leading residential mortgage lender, is seeking an experienced Underwriter to join our team! This is a great opportunity for remote candidates that have current experience and a strong background underwriting FHA and VA loans.

Position Summary

Mortgage Loan Underwriters underwrite and add loan program required conditions to mortgage applications to ensure that the borrower meets all program/product specifications prior to funding. Underwriters communicate all credit decisions (approval, suspense, denial) to the appropriate individuals within the operations team. Underwriters are charged with upholding fair lending practices and protecting the company by making sound lending decisions while maintaining company production and quality requirements.

Job Responsibilities

• Analyze loan files based on program and product specifications
• Review and analyze credit reports, income documents, appraisal reports, and other relevant information to make sound underwriting decisions
• Maintain or exceed production and quality requirements on a monthly basis
• Maintain expert knowledge of corporate, investor, and regulatory guidelines
• Ensure compliance with all company, federal, and state guidelines and lending regulations
• Effectively communicate credit decisions and document needs throughout all individuals involved
• Maintain and record all credit risk activities

Requirements

• Certifications preferred: DE & SAR/LAPP
• 5+ years of current, stable experience underwriting FHA and VA residential mortgage loans
• Encompass experience strongly preferred
• Associate degree preferred
• Experience working with a new home builder preferred

Skills And Abilities

• Possess a strong government underwriting background
• Manual and AUS underwriting skills
• Ability to underwrite files according to FNMA/FHLMC standards and comply with FHA guidelines
• Excellent analytical, attention to detail, and decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently with little supervision
• Highly motivated and takes initiative
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
