Job summary

Vallant Bank in Augusta, GA is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator to originate and process mortgage loans and support all areas of the mortgage department. You will work to meet strategic goals, adhere to service standards, and provide exceptional client service.

Qualifications

• Must have a basic knowledge of the bank's products and services.
• Must be willing to serve and work in a team.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
• Understand basic math, accounting concepts, and reconciliations.
• Knowledge of loan documentation for mortgage lending.
• Familiarity with lending regulations (Reg B, C, Z, HMDA, Bank Secrecy).
• Ability to read financial statements (balance sheet, P&L, cash flow).
• Experience with Caylex Software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Originating and processing mortgage loans for clients.
• Support all aspects of mortgage department production.
• Prospect for new clients and set appointments by phone and in person.
• Document and maintain records of all transactions with clients.
• Coordinate with vendors, underwriters, and processing teams.
• Ensure compliance with lending regulations and internal policies.

The Mortgage Originator is responsible for originating and processing mortgage loans and supporting all aspects of mortgage department production.

Prior Experience

Mortgage originator experience or related sales experience

Required Skills & Talents

• Must have a basic knowledge of the bank's products and services.
• Must have a willingness to serve.
• Must be able to function efficiently in a network environment and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
• Must be able to function efficiently on a general business level of math, possess general accounting knowledge (i.e. debits, credits, and an understanding of the bank's account reconciliations).

• Must know how to read financial statements. This includes the balance sheet, profit & loss statement, and cash flow statement.
• Must be able to identify and interpret trends in financial data.
• Must have a working knowledge of compliance guidelines for the bank and the industry
• Broad, general knowledge of insurance products
• Must understand loan and commitment letters.
• Must understand the appropriate loan documentation as related to all mortgage loans:
  • FHA
  • Other as required to meet departmental needs
• Must have knowledge and experience with Caylex Software.

• Must be able to do the following sales functions
• Prospecting for new clients
• Obtaining appointments by telephone and in person
• Conducting interviews with prospects and clients
• Analyzing information to narrow the product selection process
• Choosing the product(s) to recommend
• Closing (facilitating action steps to complete buying transactions)

• Asking for referrals
• Tracking new business through completion and payment to the bank
• Initiating communications with vendors on behalf of clients
• Document and maintain records of all transactions and communications with clients
• Keeping records of sales results
