Job summary

Texans Credit Union is seeking an experienced Mortgage Loan Originator to assist members in refinancing or purchasing a home. You will originate loans across Conventional, Fixed/ARM, Construction, and Lot products, maintaining a strong network with realtors, builders, and community partners.

The role requires building trust with members, managing a robust loan pipeline, and guiding applicants through underwriting and closing while ensuring compliance with Texas home equity laws and federal

Qualifications

• Strong and well-developed sales ability.
• Must meet SAFE Act requirements including background checks and NMLS identification.
• Strong knowledge of first and second liens, Texas home equity products, construction and lot loans.
• Excellent member service and communication skills; familiarity with Truth-in-Lending, ECOA, FCRA, Dodd-Frank, TRID, and Texas Home Equity laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent member service and develop relationships with members and partners.
• Follow Real Estate Lending credit program aligned with Texas regulations.
• Sell Conventional Fixed/ARM, Jumbo, and Lot loan products.
• Explain loan programs and closing costs to applicants, manage a large loan pipeline.
• Take applications, conduct preliminary underwriting, and submit for processing and approval.
• Drive sales through service and achieve sales/referral goals.
• Build a book of business by expanding customer relationships.
• Assist Lending Manager with compliance, reports, and special projects.
• Regularly review loan status, terms, and regulatory compliance.
• Promote and cross-sell credit union services/products.
• Create and update policies and procedures; meet with manager bi-weekly.
