Job summary

Liberty FCU, a full‑service credit union, seeks an experienced Mortgage Loan Originator to join the lending team in Charleston, SC. The candidate should excel at communication, handle detail work, and generate mortgage business through proactive outreach.

Responsibilities include interviewing borrowers, evaluating credit, pursuing leads, and maintaining knowledge of loan products and guidelines to serve clients effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2-3 years of mortgage origination experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills for client discussions.
• Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
• Knowledge of loan terms and conditions.
• Ability to obtain federal registration/NMLS.

Responsibilities

• Conduct loan interviews, discuss programs, explain processes, and request documentation.
• Evaluate credit of prospective borrowers for qualification.
• Diligently pursue leads provided.
• Contact prospective borrower leads via phone, email, or in person.
• Evaluate credit and financial status to determine proposals.
• Apply all Federal and NCUA regulatory rules in mortgage lending.
• Perform sales calls to communicate options and assist decisions.
• Maintain knowledge of loan products, processing procedures, and underwriting guidelines.
• Prospect and network with realtors, builders, and referral partners.
