Job summary

Liberty FCU in Charlotte, NC is seeking an experienced Mortgage Loan Originator to join our lending team. This role requires proactive self-generation of mortgage business, strong communication, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Duties include interviewing borrowers, evaluating credit, explaining loan programs, and coordinating documentation while adhering to Federal and NCUA rules. Bachelor’s degree preferred and 2–3 years of origination experience are desired; NMLS

Job description

Liberty FCU, a full-service credit union, is currently seeking experienced Mortgage Loan Originator candidates to join the lending team. This position will be based out of Charlotte, NC. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, attention to detail and have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. The ability to initiate and develop mortgage loan business through self-generating activities is required. Experience with mortgage loan sales is required.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Conduct loan interviews, discuss programs, explain the origination process, and request supporting documentation for loan approval.
• Evaluate credit of prospective borrowers for qualification purposes.
• Diligently pursue leads provided.
• Contact prospective borrower leads via telephone, email, or face-to-face.
• Evaluate credit and financial status of prospective borrower to determine appropriate residential mortgage loan proposal.
• Understand and apply all Federal and NCUA regulatory rules and regulations associated with mortgage lending.
• Make sales routinely through face-to-face contact with borrowers, ensuring clear understanding of options and allowing informed decisions to best suit borrower’s needs.
• Maintain knowledge of available loan products, processing procedures and underwriting guidelines.
• Prospect and network, building relationships while developing referral source base.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2-3 years of mortgage origination experience is preferred.
• Excellent communications skills to talk to clients about loan particulars and their personal financial details.
• Excellent mathematical and statistical analysis ability.
• A sound knowledge of the terms and conditions of different kinds of loans.
• Strong logical thinking.
• Ability to keep updated on new loan reforms and laws.
• Ability to obtain federal registration/NMLS.

This position reports to the local Mortgage Sales Manager and has no direct reports.
