Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in real estate lending required.

  • Fluency in Spanish and English preferred.

Mortgage Loan Originator – External Sales

DuPont Community Credit Union (DCCU) is currently seeking experienced candidates for the role ofRemoteMortgage Loan Originator– External Sales, as part of our Mortgage team. This position will have a focus area of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. What You'll have the Opportunity to do:

  • Responsible for generating mortgage business by building partnerships and relationships within DCCU's service area (Virginia).
  • Implement strategies to increase quality mortgage leads and applications.
  • Conducts loan interviews; answers inquiries and processes in a timely manner all real estate requests made by telephone, mail, internet, email and in person.
  • Provides financial counseling as it relates to matching members needs with credit union products, i.e. debt consolidation, home equity, construction, fixed or ARM products.
  • Completes loan application, collects applicable member documentation, chooses the correct mortgage product, locks the loan and submits for underwriting approval.
  • Prepares mortgage disclosures within applicable compliance guidelines, has all necessary documentation signed by member, or ensures member has consented to online disclosures.
  • Prepares mortgage file for underwriting within mortgage origination software (Encompass).
  • Organizes/assists with planning workshops/seminars.
  • Attend local real estate/realtor related functions as well as other networking events.
  • Attends majority of purchase loan Mortgage Closings.
  • Communicates and implements sales and service techniques recognizing cross selling opportunities to meet the needs of the member.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of portfolio, secondary market and government products.
  • Required to attend or participate in necessary compliance training, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC and Privacy.
  • Assists in other areas/initiatives as directed by the Mortgage Sales Manager.

What You'll Bring to the Table

  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1 year experience in real estate lending required
  • Ability to self-source leads
  • If qualified to originate mortgage loans, must be eligible to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Passion for the mortgage industry and for serving others
  • Courteous and friendly member relation skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages and fractions).
  • Professionalism.
  • Good clerical/computer skills. (Knowledge of Encompass and Desktop Underwriter is recommended, but not required)
  • Word and Excel experience.
  • Oral and written fluency in Spanish and English, preferred
