Job description

Position Summary

The Mortgage Loan Operations Specialist is responsible for managing residential mortgage loans throughout the operational lifecycle, including loan opening, disclosure preparation, closing coordination, post-closing review, investor delivery, and portfolio loan boarding.

Essential Functions:
Loan Opening Responsivities
  • Ensure accurate and timely loan data entry
  • Generate and deliver initial disclosures
  • Order and track appraisals, title work, flood certifications, verifications and payoffs.
  • Monitor files to ensure deadlines are met
Closing Responsibilities
  • Prepare closing packages and investor documents
  • Review closing disclosures for accuracy
  • Coordinate closing with settlement parties
  • Verify loan terms, title, insurance and fees
Post-Closing and Secondary Market Responsibilities
  • Review signed closing packages
  • Deliver loans to investors and servicing partners
  • Clear suspense conditions and funding requirements
  • Ensure accurate portfolio loan boarding
Additional Functions
  • Work with Operations Manager at identifying any training deficiencies within the department
  • Work with Operations Manager in creating and implementing any process changes that might be needed due to investor or servicer policies
  • Assist department with any other assigned duties
  • MERS Officer for the Mortgage lending department
  • Perform periodic reporting on work progress, project completions, and additional reporting as requested by mortgage Operations manager.
Education and Experience
  • 5 years conventional mortgage experience required
  • 5 years closing/post-closing operations experience required
  • Ability to analyze settlement packages and title reports is required
  • Detailed knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC guidelines is required
  • Knowledge of Automated Underwriting Systems LP/DU is recommended
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required
  • MS Word Suite required
