Job description

At First Mid, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e., bonus, incentives, and/or commission). Responsible for producing a high volume of good quality consumer and real estate loans. Also responsible for ordering credit reports, analyzing data, approving or denying credit requests and collection of delinquent loans.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Interviews loan applicants explaining loan options, rates, terms and collateral requirements; gather the required information to provide a complete application to the appropriate loan processor.
  2. Conducts loan closings. Ensures all documents are appropriately signed and all underwriting conditions are met. When necessary, takes all steps necessary to perfect the Bank’s lien position.
  3. Disburse funds on construction and home improvements loans in accordance with Bank guidelines.
  4. Manages and supervises individual loan portfolios. Develops and maintains existing customer base and build customer satisfaction and confidence in the Bank.
  5. Maintains the asset quality of lending portfolio. Reviews delinquency reports, performs routine follow up with past due customers and coordinates collection efforts with other loan officers. When necessary, repossesses and liquidates collateral and works with Bank’s attorney when court action is required.
  6. Analyzes and makes decisions regarding the Bank’s credit check program and collects any delinquent accounts.
  7. Reviews daily overdrafts, determines whether to return or pay checks and produces follow-up letter on accounts overdrawn over ten (10) days.
  8. Assists other loan officers with underwriting questions or program information.
  9. Orders title work for real estate loans, reviews same and takes care of any curative matters that may arise.
  10. Proactively identify, develop and maintain a quality network of business relationships with Realtors, Attorneys and other professional contacts that serve as a source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities.
  11. Cross-sell bank products and services in a professional manner.
  12. Complete required training associated with job function.
  13. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent advanced training in a financial institution or loan setting.
  2. Must register and maintain a status in good standing under the SAFE Act requirements.
Skills:
  1. High level of interpersonal skills to interact with customers and potential customers in a professional manner.
  2. Ensure exceptional customer service by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  3. Interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other business areas and government agencies as required.
  4. High level of direct marketing skills necessary, as regular and ongoing direct marketing is required in order to establish relationships with referral sources and identify networking opportunities.
  5. High level of analytical skills to conduct loan analysis and maintain loan’s progress in consideration of market trends, credit/interest rates, economic conditions and other factors.
  6. Good understanding and knowledge of Company’s products and services.
  7. Good cross-selling, management and organizational skills.
  8. Adequate knowledge of both internal policies and procedures and the respective state and federal laws and regulations governing departmental functions to ensure performance of individual job duties within the proper control environment.
  9. May be required to work earlier or later than the normal workday.
