Job summary

Turing is seeking Mortgage & Home Lending professionals to collaborate with researchers, evaluating and training AI models on topics from underwriting to loan servicing. You’ll shape rubrics, assess model capabilities, and help advance AI in finance with an emphasis on accuracy and regulatory considerations.

This fully remote freelance role offers flexible hours (10–30 hrs/week) for ~1 month, with compensation around $100+ per hour depending on experience.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in Mortgage & Home Lending.
• Strong grasp of agency guidelines (Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac) and loan lifecycle.
• Excellent English written communication.

Role Overview

Turing is looking for Mortgage & Home Lending professionals to work with our researchers to improve the performance of AI models. You will apply your expertise in mortgage origination, underwriting, loan processing, and servicing to evaluate and train AI systems. If you enjoy solving complex problems in home lending and are interested in shaping the future of AI in finance, No prior AI experience is required.

What Does Day-to-Day Look Like

• Evaluate LLM models on mortgage topics such as residential underwriting, conforming and government-backed loan programs (Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA), refinancing, and loan servicing.
• Create rubrics to assess model capabilities on tasks like debt-to-income (DTI) and loan-to-value (LTV) calculations, borrower income and asset verification, appraisal review, escrow analysis, and disclosure compliance (TRID/RESPA).
• Collaborate with AI researchers and fellow lending experts to shape training methods, evaluation strategies, and benchmarks.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in Mortgage & Home Lending (e.g., mortgage underwriter, loan officer, loan processor, closer, servicing specialist, or secondary marketing analyst).
• Strong grasp of agency guidelines (Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac), mortgage underwriting standards, the loan lifecycle from application to closing, and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Excellent English written communication.

• NMLS licence, DE/LAPP underwriting authority, Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB), or MBA in Finance.
