Position Summary

*Preferred state licenses held - Texas, California, Florida, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Washington. Direct to Consumer loan origination experience a plus.

The Mortgage Consultant is responsible for achieving all department goals by consulting consumers through the loan application process, follow-up, interest rate lock, and loan closing. Responsibilities also include communicating with Realtors, the Mortgage Operations team, and the Customer Experience team.

What You'll Be Doing
  1. Follow Up & Conversion of Loan Applications
  • Manage an active pipeline of loan applications to maximize loan closings each month. Use sales skills to convert pipeline into locked loans while maintaining margin goals. Interact with consumers to obtain required documentation and collaborate with team members (Processors, Closers) to exceed production goals and provide excellent customer service.
  1. Consulting
  • Gather pertinent loan application data, build relationships with consumers, and apply mortgage industry knowledge to inform and assist them in making sophisticated loan decisions.
  1. Managing Relationships
  • Partner with and manage relationships with current and past consumers, Realtors, the Customer Experience team, corporate clients, directors, and other outside parties to build referral networks, increase conversion, and provide creative solutions while resolving issues.
  1. Training
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of current programs, products, and guidelines. Complete ongoing education to keep state licensing and professional designations current.
Qualifications and Preferred Skills
  • Two years of mortgage origination or loan operations experience preferred.
  • Customer service-oriented with strong sales skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly motivated, goal-oriented, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage loan products, guidelines, and regulations preferred.
  • Must register as a Mortgage Loan Originator with the NMLS and meet all requirements of the Federal S.A.F.E. Act and state regulations, including fingerprinting, background checks, credit checks, and pre-licensing education and testing.
