Job summary

The DC Army National Guard seeks Indirect Fire Infantrymen to operate mortars as part of a squad, section, or platoon. You will perform challenging duties, including setting up mortars, targeting, and camouflage positions while engaging enemy forces and conducting reconnaissance.

As skills grow, you may train others, lead teams, and implement combat orders in offensive or defensive operations. The role includes substantial training, with paid instruction and opportunities for tuition assistance

Qualifications

• Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be between the ages of 17 and 35.
• Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.
• Requires military enlistment. MOS assignment may depend on MOS availability.

Responsibilities

• Set up, load, and fire mortars.
• Employ crew and weapons in offensive, defensive, and retrograde ground combat.
• Operate, clean, and store automatic weapons.
• Employ, fire, and recover mines.
• Carry out scouting missions to spot enemy troops and gun locations.
