Job summary

Morris Hospital YMCA is hiring a Kids Corner Attendant to supervise infants, toddlers, and school-age children in a safe, engaging environment. You will partner with parents to support wellness goals while modeling YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Ideal candidates are at least 16 years old, with a high school diploma or equivalent; college experience preferred. CPR/First Aid/AED certifications and prior child-care experience are valued, and flexibility for long shifts

• Must be at least age 16.
• High school graduate or equivalent; college preferred.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certifications required prior to hire; experience with children and diverse populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise infants, toddlers and school-age children in the Kids Corner.
• Ensure safety and security; engage children with purposeful programming.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about behavior or illness.
• Follow YMCA policies and emergency procedures; complete reports as needed.

Must be actively involved and attentive at all times. Responsible for ensuring the safety and security of children under your supervision. Follows all procedures and standards.Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.Maintains a professional attitude in all circumstances.Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.Communicates with parents/guardians regarding children's behavior or illness.Ensures that accident reports and reportable condition forms are filled out completely and submitted in a timely manner.Notify supervisor of any problems or issues that arise during shift.Assists with any other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Must be at least age 16.High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.Previous experience working with children.Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: child care.CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Harassment training prior to first day of hire.Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.Ability to work long hours with positive attitude.PHYSICAL DEMANDSAbility to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.PART-TIME BENEFITSFREE Y Membership25% off on Y programmingParticipation in the Y’s retirement plan (when eligibility requirements have been met)
