Job summary

Morris Hospital YMCA in Morris, IL is seeking a Part Time Kids Korner Shift Lead to supervise attendants and ensure the safety of children in their care, in line with our YMCA values.

You will work at Morris Hospital YMCA, reinforcing our mission to strengthen communities and develop character in youth. Candidates should be prepared for long shifts and uphold policies on medical emergencies and child abuse prevention.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
• Previous experience working with children.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications required prior to first day of hire.
• Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
• Ability to work long hours with positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Acts as leader for Kids Korner Attendants.
• Must be available for at least 75% of shift, including either opening or closing for that shift.
• Maintains a professional attitude in all circumstances.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
• Communicates with parents/guardians regarding children’s behavior or illness.
• Ensures that accident reports and reportable condition forms are filled out completely and submitted in a timely manner.
• Notify supervisor of any problems or issues that arise during shift.
• Responsible for making decision regarding the immediate removal of a child during shift due to behavior (fighting, hitting, etc.) or illness.
• Verifies that opening and closing procedures are completed for every shift.
• Assists with other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for leading and providing overall direction to kids corner attendants. Must ensure the safety and security of children under your supervision at all times. Kids Korner Shift Lead must act in accordance with the YMCA’s mission and commitment to developing human beings with character values including Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.

Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least age 18.
• High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
• Previous experience working with children.
• Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: child care.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Harassment training prior to first day of hire.
• Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
• Ability to work long hours with positive attitude.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
