Job summary

YOUNG MENS CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHEAST VENT seeks a dedicated Kids Zone Attendant to support youth development and safe, engaging activities for children from 6 months to 10 years in our YMCA facility.

You will welcome families, maintain a positive atmosphere, supervise activities, and ensure safety and cleanliness of the space. Strong communication with parents is essential; CPR/First Aid certification required. Position requires completion of online trainings prior to start.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 required.
• CPR and First Aid certification required.
• Criminal record clearance required.
• Knowledge of basic child supervision techniques required.
• Ability to interact with diverse children and parents.
• All required online trainings must be completed before starting work.

Responsibilities

• Set up daily activities and ensure the room is safe before children enter; report needs.
• Manage entry/exit from the child watch room.
• Maintain required program records as required.
• Supervise children ages 6 months to 10 years and ADA accommodations as needed.
• Cultivate positive relationships and communicate with parents.
• Attend to special needs and concerns of parents about their children.
• Maintain program area and equipment.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
• Perform other job-related duties as requested.

Education

POSITION SUMMARY

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Kids Zone Attendant maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals, promotes the potential of all youth, and provides a quality experience to both youth and their families

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Set up daily activities, make sure room is safe before children enter, and report room needs to the designated person.
2. Manage entry/exit from child watch room.
3. Maintain required program records as required.
4. Supervises children ages 6 months to 10 years, program area, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate.
5. Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents.
6. Learn and attend to special needs of children in the child watch center and understand the concerns of parents regarding their children.
7. Maintain program area and equipment.
8. Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings as required.
9. Performs other job-related duties as requested and necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Minimum 16 years old
2. Child & Infant CPR and First Aid certification.
3. Knowledge of basic child supervision techniques.
4. Ability to work with and interact with a diverse group of children and parents.
5. All required online trainings must be completed before starting work, which will be compensated for accordingly.
6. Criminal record clearance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Ability to stand, sit and stoop to attend to a child’s needs.
2. Ability to lift minimum of 25 pounds.
3. Ability to see and supervise children.
4. The physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
5. Ability to react to emergency situations in an indoor and outdoor environment.
