Job summary

The Madison Metropolitan School District is seeking a Food Service Worker II for Leopold Elementary on a 0.43 FTE schedule. The role supports meal preparation, packaging, and distribution, while promoting a positive lunchroom experience for students.

Responsibilities include maintaining sanitation, operating the POS system, and ensuring timely meal service with a collaborative, customer-focused approach.

Qualifications

• Completion of online Food Safety and Sanitation Program before probation is completed.
• Three months of cashiering, customer service, or other related experience.
• Six months of food service experience.
• Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to cultural competence.
• Positive attitude toward teamwork to make the lunchroom pleasant for students and staff.
• Must be able to report to work on time and ready to work as scheduled.

Responsibilities

• Follow all USDA/DPI and MMSD rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures.
• Comply with sanitation and safety standards.
• Collect cash and report meals, including computer operation.
• Distribute food in proper portions.
• Clean tables, kitchen equipment, and food service area.
• Assist with accurate preparation of meals to ensure high quality and food safety.
• Dress appropriately per Employee Handbook.
• Respond timely to communications (email, voice mail).
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
