Job summary

Vintage Grocers in Malibu, CA is seeking a Morning Prep Cook to support the kitchen for daily operations, preparing ingredients according to recipes, quality standards, and safety guidelines. You will wash, cut, portion produce and proteins, follow production sheets, stock prep stations, label and store items, and help line cooks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Arrive on time and prepared for the morning shift.
• Prepare ingredients including washing, cutting, peeling, slicing, and portioning fruits, vegetables, meats, and other food items.
• Follow standardized recipes and production sheets.
• Prepare sauces, soups, dressings, batters, and other menu components.
• Stock and organize prep stations, coolers, and storage areas.
• Label, date, and properly store all prepared products.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Monitor inventory levels and notify management of shortages.
• Receive and properly store deliveries when needed.
• Assist line cooks and kitchen staff with additional food preparation tasks.
• Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
• Minimize food waste and practice proper food handling procedures.

Schedule: Early Morning Shift (typically between 5:00 AM and 3:00 PM, varies by seasonality)

Position Summary

The Morning Prep Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients and food items required for daily kitchen operations. This role ensures all foods are prepared according to recipes, quality standards, food safety guidelines, and production schedules before service begins. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
