Job summary

Gray Media's WILX-WSYM in Lansing is seeking an energetic Morning News Executive Producer/Anchor to lead our #1 morning newscasts. You will connect with viewers, guide multi-platform coverage, and anchor on broadcast and streaming channels.

The role requires newsroom leadership, strong editorial instincts, excellent writing, and the ability to mentor a diverse team under tight deadlines. Strong on-air presence and calm under breaking news are essential.

Qualifications

Two years of professional TV news anchoring and reporting experience.
Ability to lead a diverse newsroom team under tight deadlines.
Strong news judgment and ethics; excellent writing for on-air and digital.
Strong on-air presence and calm under breaking news.
Experience with ENPS, Edius, and website/digital publishing.
Willingness to work early mornings.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage the morning news team — including anchors, reporters, producers, and photographers.
Oversee the daily editorial direction of the morning newscasts and shape daily content.
Coach and mentor newsroom staff with constructive feedback.
Anchor morning newscasts with energy, credibility, and a conversational delivery.
Pitch, research, write, and produce local news stories.
Deliver live reports from the field and studio during breaking events.
Publish content to station website, app, and social channels.
Conduct live interviews with local newsmakers and experts.
