TEGNA Inc. in Washington, DC seeks an Executive Producer for Mornings to oversee a team of producers, reporters and anchors for the morning show. Lead the editorial process, mentor staff, and collaborate with digital and broadcast platforms to deliver engaging, audience-focused content.

You will guide coverage from breaking news to enterprise stories while ensuring brand integrity, FCC compliance, and high-quality storytelling across all platforms.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field.
• 7-10 years’ experience as a news producer and newsroom leader.
• Positive track record of quality journalism, high integrity, and ethical decision-making.
• Passion for growing journalists and fostering a creative, positive, and collaborative newsroom.
• Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news, and changing events.
• Strong organization, planning skills and the ability to work under constant time-sensitive deadlines.
• Knowledge of AP ENPS, Edius, photojournalism, video editing, and content management systems a plus.
• Understanding of copyright law, music rights and basic journalism legal principals.
• Well versed in online metrics such as Google Analytics, Social News Desk, Facebook Insights, YouTube Analytics, etc.
• Working knowledge of Content Management Systems, Basic HTML, AP style and live-stream technology
• Strong understanding of all social media platforms and how they contribute to overall success
• Keen interest in emerging digital trends and evolving consumption habits
• Familiarity with the Washington DC region is a plus

Mansioni

• Collaborate and execute long-term newsroom strategy
• Train, develop, and coach the newsroom team with a focus on mentoring content creators across all platforms
• Oversee the daily editorial process
• Oversee the on-air execution and provide coaching and showcasing techniques
• Review, approve scripts, and provide writing/copy editing to rundowns to ensure accuracy and quality
• Source and recruit top-notch journalists
• Participate in coordinating all aspects of coverage, from breaking news to enterprise story production and specials
• Ensure the news coverage meets our brand, policies, values, and FCC rules
• Work with newsroom management to meet audience goals and further develop our local brand
