Position Purpose:
- The Pediatrics House Physician is responsible for providing medical care to assigned children from birth to early adulthood in the in-patient and hospital outpatient setting.
Essential Functions:
- Examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses.
- Administer various immunizations that are available to protect children from diseases such as hepatitis B, diphtheria, polio, measles, and mumps.
- Write orders for the implementation of the plan of care.
- Compile and document all pediatric patient assessments, interventions and evaluations in the medical record and complete and sign all medical records.
- Work with children patient parents or guardians to teach them how to provide proper care to their children on regular basis.
- Participates in the hospital’s Risk Management Program and follows all rules and regulations of the program, as well as the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of SAH.
- Participate in quality assurance and utilization review when necessary.
- Respond to all pediatric codes and other emergencies in the hospital and is responsible for the emergency medical management of the patient.

- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Maintain a permanent license to practice medicine in the State of Illinois.
- Strong initiative and good judgment and decision making skills.
- Ability to prioritize time sensitive assignments.
- CPR and PALS Certified.
