Job summary

Bezos Academy is seeking a Food Service Assistant to lead kitchen operations, prepare CACFP-compliant menus, and manage food deliveries. You will also assist with inventory, laundry, and classroom support to enhance the preschool experience.

The role requires 40 hours weekly, Monday–Friday, with shifts from 7:30am to 5:30pm, and includes benefits such as health, dental, vision, and a 401(k) with employer match. E-Verify participation is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years and high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to pass background checks and trainings per WA requirements.
• Knowledge of cooking methods and various preparations.
• Lift up to 50 pounds and stand long periods safely.
• Experience in institutional or regulated kitchen settings.
• Active and current food worker card.
• Understanding of WA food/beverage worker manual.
• English fluency in reading, writing, and speaking.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
• 2+ years in a school or preschool kitchen setting.
• Knowledge of food allergens and accommodations.
• Experience as an Assistant Teacher in a preschool.

Responsibilities

• Place weekly food orders based on attendance and waste analysis.
• Receive and verify daily food deliveries for accuracy and compliance.
• Manage vendor performance and food costs.
• Ensure all meals are compliant and documented.
• Track consumption and waste to control costs.
• Prepare and serve meals and utensils to classrooms.
• Maintain strict food hygiene and safety practices.
• Organize and label inventory with proper dating.
