Job summary

City Garden Montessori School is seeking a School Support Specialist to assist teaching and administrative staff while promoting Montessori principles and an anti-bias/anti-racist pedagogy. Reporting to the Building Operations Manager, you will float between duties, providing classroom and behavioral support and stepping in as needed across the building.

The role requires reliability as a “utility player,” assisting with lunch service, front desk duties, event prep, and coordination with staff.

Qualifications

• High School graduate with at least 12 hours of post‑secondary education or an Associate’s degree preferred.
• High School graduate with substitute teaching certification from the Missouri DESE.
• Two years of experience working with young students in a school or supervised setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom support daily to lead teachers as directed by the Principal and Building Operations Manager.
• Provide behavior and physical support to students as needed; assist in bathrooms for preschool or special needs students.
• Act as a substitute for Assistant Teacher when required; serve as a flexible “utility player” across the building.
• Supervise and assist with lunch service, front desk tasks, event preparation, and general safety and order.
