UU World of Children Montessori School in Greenville, SC is seeking an Afternoon Assistant Teacher to support the Primary class after school hours. This part-time role offers hands-on experience in a Montessori environment for students pursuing Early Childhood Education or related fields.

Most responsibilities include assisting the Lead Teacher, supervising activities, and fostering a calm, respectful classroom. Opportunities to sub in the morning may occur.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Experience working with young children in camps, babysitting, or classrooms is preferred.
• Ability to pass state background checks and complete required trainings.

About This Role The UU World of Children Montessori School is seeking a caring and reliable Afternoon Assistant Teacher to support our Primary class (children ages 3–6) during the afternoon hours Monday-Thursday 2:30-5:30pm and Friday 11:45-5:30pm. This is an excellent opportunity for college students majoring in Early Childhood Education or a related field to gain practical experience in a Montessori environment. No Montessori certification required.

In addition to regular afternoon hours, there may be opportunities to sub in the morning.

What You'll Do

• Assist the Lead Teacher in managing the afternoon routine
• Supervise and engage with children during indoor and outdoor activities
• Help maintain a calm, clean, and inviting classroom environment
• Support children's independence and exploration in a respectful way
• Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff

Requirements

• High school diploma
• Experience working with young children (through camps, babysitting, classroom, etc.)
• Ability to pass required state background checks
• Complete 15 hours of online training within 30 days of hire
• CPR/First Aid certification and completion of annual training will be required (support provided)
