Job summary

Headwaters School in Austin, TX seeks a part-time Support Teacher for the Elementary School for the 2026-2027 year. The role supports the school day and after-school program, with hours 11:00 pm-4:30pm (hours may vary), 28 hours weekly.

The candidate will work with children aged 5–11, assist specials teachers, and help maintain a safe, engaging environment in a Montessori-based setting. We value growth, collaboration, inclusion, and a love of outdoor activity.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Passion for working with elementary aged children.
• Familiarity with Montessori philosophy and environment preferred.
• Commitment to equity and inclusive practices in the classroom.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with children in the Elementary School program aged 5–11, including supervision during lunch and recess and supporting one or more specials teachers.
• Assist after-school program activities, indoors and outdoors, with the aftercare team under the direction of the aftercare Lead.
• Maintain a clean and tidy indoor and outdoor environment for all children.
• Develop and maintain an environment aligned with the sensitive period/plane of development for the children in care.
• Maintain ongoing dialogue with the team to support social, emotional well-being and academic development of each student.
• Be part of a team providing after-school care.
