Job summary

Sterling Montessori Academy & Charter School in Morrisville, NC, is seeking a part-time Children’s House After Care Team Member to supervise children ages 3-6 from 3:00–6:00 p.m. on weekdays. Duties include maintaining a safe, respectful environment and supporting snack, activities, and transitions.

The ideal candidate is dependable, nurturing, and willing to participate in on-site training, with a focus on child-centered practices and collaboration with staff and families.

Qualifications

• Interest in working with children ages 3-6.
• Nurturing, patient, and child-centered approach.
• Reliability and consistent availability from 3:00-6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
• Willingness to learn and participate in on-site training.
• Ability to follow established procedures and respond to coaching/feedback.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Ability to supervise children in indoor and outdoor settings.
• Must meet employment, background-check, and health & safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive supervision of children ages 3-6.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming, and respectful after-school environment.
• Support children during snack, activities, outdoor play, transitions, and dismissal.
• Encourage independence while addressing developmental and emotional needs.
• Use calm, respectful language when guiding children.
• Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
• Follow all school procedures related to safety, attendance, and student care.
• Assist with preparing, organizing, and cleaning the After Care environment.
• Communicate promptly with the After Care Coordinator regarding student needs or incidents.
• Participate in required on-site training and apply the practices presented.
• Work collaboratively with other After Care employees and school staff.
