Job summary

Scripps Health in San Diego is seeking a Patient Care Technical to monitor cardiac and SPO2 telemetry in a full-time night shift role (1830–0700). Rotating holidays and weekends required, located at the Hospital Centralized Services on Rehco Road.

You will interpret rhythms, prioritize RN notification, print telemetry strips, and maintain equipment per unit standards. Requires EKG exam during interview; preferred 6 months of cardiac monitoring and EKG/arrhythmia certifications.

Qualifications

• Must successfully complete the Scripps Health EKG Examination during interview.
• 6 months of Cardiac Monitoring experience preferred.
• Basic Arrhythmia Certification preferred.
• EKG certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patients on cardiac and/or SPO2 (continuous oxygen saturation) via telemetry equipment.
• Monitor patients when transporting to and from procedures/units.
• Interpret cardiac rhythms/SPO2 and report changes to the RN.
• Ability to prioritize notification to the RN based on emergent patient care needs.
• Identify and maintain integrity of the telemetry system and report malfunctions and needed adjustments.
• Print telemetry strips and document per unit standards.
• Place patient on cardiac/SPO2 monitor, change batteries, and set up leads.
• Perform clerical and other duties as requested per unit standard.

This is a benefited, full time position working 12-hour night shifts on varied nights. Hours are generally 1830-0700. Rotating holidays and weekends required. Located at Scripps Centralized Services on Rehco Road.
