GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job is responsible for performing standard and complex electroencephalographic recording, detecting malfunctions of equipment, and making repairs. Also performs all duties of a cardiology tech.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Applies electrodes on predetermined positions on patient's head, checks accuracy for testing, and recognizes and eliminates causes of electrical interference for clearer studies and better interpretation. (40%)
• Calibrates and maintains equipment cleanliness to ensure optimal performance. (40%)
• Assesses and reviews tracings, and abstracts information from patients’ records to assist neurologists in interpreting results. (20%)
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

• Six (6) months' work experience in a hospital or physician's office is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required, plus up to 12 months of additional schooling in EEG or respiratory therapy programs.
• CPR certification – American Heart Association.
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
