Job summary

Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center is seeking a part-time Monitor Technician for night shift to monitor telemetry and interpret EKG tracings. You will promptly report dysrhythmias and ensure telemetry equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Requirements include a high school diploma and completion of a monitor technician program or one year of related experience within the last five years. Orientation includes Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency tests.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course or 1 year experience in monitor technician surveillance within the last 5 years may be accepted in substitute of a monitor tech surveillance program/course.
• Candidates who have not completed a monitor technician surveillance program must complete a certificate program within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Observe, recognize, interpret, evaluate, and document EKG tracings on telemetry-monitored patients to detect deviations from normal.
• Promptly notify appropriate personnel of dysrhythmias.
• Operate and utilize monitoring system to full capacity; ensure proper and safe functioning of telemetry equipment.
