Responsibilties

Essential Generic Job Functions:

  • Observes patient telemetry monitoring system and reports any abnormal responses promptly.
  • Admit and discharge patients from patient telemetry monitoring system.
  • Runs rhythm strips from patient telemetry monitoring system as per protocol.
  • Monitors accurate functioning of patient telemetry monitoring system (i.e., battery life, rhythm

clarity related to patient setup, transmitter safety).

  • Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6

hours a day.

  • Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is

specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This

process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their

level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).

Qualifications

Knowledge, Education and Skills Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years experience in health related field.
  • 1 year experience in field or associated field of cardiology.
  • Successful completion of monitor technician course at any hospital facility.
  • Successful passing score on HUMC monitor technician arrhythmia exam.
  • Exposure and experience in computers.

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
