Job summary

INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK, is seeking a Night Shift Monitor Technician to operate cardiac monitoring systems and maintain accurate patient monitoring logs. You will verbally report pertinent monitor data to colleagues and assist during code situations with rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia detection.

The role requires English communication skills and/or prior monitor tech experience, with clinical responsibilities overseen by the Central Monitoring Manager.

Qualifications

• Prefer medical or monitor tech experience
• Central Monitoring Unit: Valid 90% on Basic Dysrhythmia test
• Must communicate effectively in English

Responsibilities

• Operates complex cardiac monitoring systems, including ECG rhythm screens and dysrhythmia detection
• Maintains accurate log of patients' cardiac monitoring status
• Records patient rhythm in the log and reports data to colleagues
• Communicates monitor data to appropriate staff
• Assists with rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia detection during codes
• Notifies biomedical engineering if monitor equipment malfunctions
• Ensures proper operation and upkeep of monitoring equipment
• Reports to the Manager of Central Monitoring
• May have additional physical or testing requirements; consult Risk Management
• Views monitor screens for up to four hours at a time; up to 8 hours daily

Responsibilities

• Operates complex cardiac monitoring systems, including ECG rhythm screens, computerized dysrhythmia detection system, and rhythm strip printers
• Maintains accurate neat account of patients cardiac monitoring status during episode of care
• Identifies and records patient rhythm in patient log as appropriate
• Verbally communicates report on pertinent patient/monitor data to/from appropriate colleagues
• During code situations, maintains contact with appropriate staff to assist with rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia detection
• Contacts biomedical engineering in a timely manner when the monitor equipment malfunctions
• Ensure and maintain proper operation and up keep of monitoring equipment
• The Monitor Technician reports to the Manager of Central Monitoring.
• This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements. Please consult the Physical Demands Project SharePoint site or contact Risk Management/Employee Health for additional information.
• Consistently viewing monitor screens for up to four hours at a time (and up to 8 hours per day). No hazards.

Qualifications

• Central Monitoring Unit: Requires validation of competency by scoring a minimum of 90% on the Basic Dysrhythmia test
