Job summary

AdventHealth is hiring a Monitor Technician to join the Day-Weekend shift in Rome, GA. The role focuses on observing telemetry, recognizing abnormal EKG patterns, and promptly informing nursing staff.

You will maintain logbooks, monitor alarms, and support department quality initiatives while ensuring a clean, organized workspace and ongoing professional development. Requirements include English proficiency, basic computer skills, and completion of a basic arrhythmias course.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Observe monitors and document normal/abnormal EKG patterns and notify staff.

• Keep work area clean and equipment sanitized; participate in ongoing training.

Job Description:

Shift: Full Time Day-Weekend

• The Monitor Tech demonstrates behavior that aligns with the company's core values.
• Documents in accordance with department policy and maintain telemetry logbook.
• Observes monitors, recognizing and documenting normal and abnormal EKG patterns, and promptly notify nursing staff of any abnormalities.
• Maintains monitor alarms per policy, verifies that alarms are set and audible every shift, and troubleshoots monitors as needed.
• Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities, demonstrating accurate documentation and monitoring of activities, and supporting departmental quality standards and initiatives.
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrade skills, performing other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or unit.
• Maintains telemetry printout during cardiac arrest and as indicated.
• Ensures effective communication with the healthcare team regarding patient status and any changes observed.
• Assists in maintaining a clean and organized work environment, ensuring equipment is properly sanitized and stored.
• Participates in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and departmental procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Monitor technician experience or successful completion of AdventHealth Monitor Technician training program or equivalent. Required
• Must be able to read, write, and speak conversational English. Required
• Proficiency in the English language. Required
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Required
• Pleasant telephone manner and organizational skills. Required
• Ability to work with patients/public in potentially difficult situations. Required
• Completion of basic arrhythmias identification course in orientation. Required
• Good oral, written, and communication skills. Required
• Ability to continuously prioritize multiple duties. Required
• Familiar with medical terminology and arrhythmia identification. Required
• Ability to quickly learn and successfully complete a competency skill check off list within 90 days of employment. Required
• Ability and willingness to work a flexible workweek including weekends, nights, and overtime as required. Required
• Customer service skills. Required
• Demonstrates a specialized level of knowledge and thorough understandings of practices/procedures related to hospital nursing practices, telemetry monitor, and infection control procedures. Required
• Basic knowledge of computer use or willingness to learn. Required
• Must have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, which addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of the patient populations served within the department. Required
• Ability to communicate effectively. Required
• Accurate typing skills. Required
• Neat and legible handwriting. Required
• Successfully complete Virtual Patient Observation training. Required
• Verbal interpersonal skills. Required
• Ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions. Required
• Keyboarding and basic clerical skills. Required
• Basic EKG class or equivalent knowledge. Required
• Medical terminology Preferred

Education:

• High School Graduate or Equivalent Preferred

Work Experience:

• 1+ years of monitor tech experience Preferred

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) Preferred
