Job summary

Kavyos Consulting is seeking a Senior MongoDB Database Engineer to design, optimize, and operate a high-throughput MongoDB platform supporting enterprise workloads. You will bring hands-on experience with multi-terabyte to petabyte-scale clusters and build resilient environments under heavy production load.

You will lead performance tuning, data modeling, and shard/cluster optimization, work with application teams on data design, and participate in 24x7 on-call support across regional teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience as a MongoDB engineer or DBA in large-scale production environments.
• Experience with sharding, replication internals and distributed architecture design.
• Automation experience with Python and shell scripting on Linux environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end MongoDB performance optimization including query tuning, execution plan analysis and index design
• Design and implement scalable data models optimized for high read/write throughput and low latency
• Architect and operate large-scale shared clusters using range-based and hash-based stratergies
• Optimize shard key selection, chunk distribution, and balancing to prevent hotspots and improve performance
• Manage cross-shard query efficiency and reduce scatter-gather impact across distributed workloads
• Support large production environments (hundreds of nodes, multi region-deployment) with focus on avaibability and resilience
• Implement and maintain high availability, disaster recovery, and failover strategies across regions
• Automate database operations, monitoring, and maintenance tasks using python and shell scripting
• Partner with application teams on data modeling, query design and performance best practices
• Participate in 24x7 on call support by working regional teams

Experience you'll need to have

8+ years of experience as a MongoDB engineer or DBA in large-scale production environments

• 8+ years of experience in MongoDB sharding, replication internals and distributed architecture design
• 4+ years of automation experience working with Python, Shell, RedHat Linux
