Job summary

Unified Women’s Healthcare is seeking a Molecular Technologist to support pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical processes for specimen handling. The role requires following SOPs, QC/QI procedures and documenting activities in the LIS.

You will troubleshoot equipment, maintain records, and ensure timely results while upholding safety and quality standards in a clinical laboratory setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
  • Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or equivalent education and training.

Responsibilities

  • Performs simple to complex assays utilizing established departmental protocols.
  • Reads, understands, and adheres to all the SOPs, policies, and protocols.
  • Performs all pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing processes accurately and timely, as well as independently.
  • Reports results via the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Prepares clinical specimens for testing and identifies specimen related problems.
  • Establishes and performs proper quality control measures in accordance with laboratory operating standards.
  • Documents daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly quality control to support QA initiatives.
  • Identifies problems that may affect test performance, reporting findings to supervisor or director.
  • Documents corrective actions when test systems deviate from performance specs.
  • Maintains efficient workflow and reports delays or problems to supervisor.
  • Monitors TAT and workflow processes.
  • Assists in preparation of validation documentation for new tests and procedures.
  • Maintains records that demonstrate PT samples are tested like patient samples.
  • Cleans and maintains lab equipment, instrumentation, and workspace.
  • Maintains and tracks inventory for reagents, consumables, and ancillaries.
  • Follow health and safety regulations when handling lab specimens.
  • Comply with chemical hygiene and lab safety procedures.
  • Comply with all lab procedures, processes, and methodologies.

Education

Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or equivalent education and training.
