Job summary

University of California, San Francisco seeks a Molecular Pathologist/Laboratory Geneticist at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level to lead germline and somatic testing in a CLIA/CAP-accredited laboratory.

The candidate will play a key role in genome sequencing, hereditary cancer panels, and pharmacogenomics, with opportunities for translational research and teaching fellows, residents, and students.

Qualifications

• MD (or MD equivalent) and/or PhD with ABP Board Certification/Eligibility in Molecular Genetic Pathology, or ABMGG Board Certification/Eligibility in Molecular Genetics and Genomics or Laboratory Genetics and Genomics by hire.
• Experience in inherited disease genomics and/or cancer genomics, particularly NGS platforms.
• Hands-on experience with molecular analyses in a clinical or experimental setting.
• Focus on germline testing (genome sequencing, hereditary cancer panels, pharmacogenomics) and participation in somatic testing.
• Ability to collaborate with clinicians, technical staff, lab administration, and pathologists to address testing needs.
• Teaching responsibilities for fellows, residents, and students; interest in translational research.

Responsibilities

• Perform next-generation sequencing, PCR-based testing, and FISH testing in a CLIA/CAP-accredited laboratory.
• Participate in interdisciplinary molecular board meetings and clinical integration.
• Teach and train fellows, residents, and students in molecular pathology and cancer genetics.
• Contribute to development and validation of new molecular tests and translational research.
