Job summary

CBL Path, Inc. participates in Sonic Healthcare USA’s network in Rye Brook, NY, seeking a seasoned clinical laboratory leader. The role requires supervision, molecular lab experience, and NY licensure to oversee procurement, QA, safety, and compliance across CAP/CLIA-inspected operations.

You will lead quality control, mentor staff, and drive process improvements while ensuring safe, efficient workflows and timely reporting of results. Competitive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of clinical laboratory experience with at least four years in the molecular discipline.
• 1+ year of supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership role.
• Required NY State Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
• Preferred ASCP or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

• Manages and coordinates the procurement of clinical laboratory supplies and equipment.
• Monitors standing orders, negotiates supply contracts, and terminates vendor agreements.
• Assists in developing, evaluating, and implementing new procedures and protocols.
• Evaluates employees’ work performance and provides orientation and training.
• Ensures instrument maintenance and quality control procedures; troubleshoots instruments.
• Maintains laboratory supplies inventory and anticipates needs.
• Initiates and completes special projects or new method implementations.
• Maintains productivity and ensures workflows are completed within timeframes.
• Assists in review and reporting of test results.
• Ensures safety protocols and PPE compliance.
• Develops continuing education for CL employees per CAP/state guidelines.
• Maintains QA/QC programs and takes corrective action.
• Prepares new SOPs and updates procedures for compliance.
• Prepares laboratory for CAP/CLIA/state inspections and provides reports.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

In This Role, You Will

• Manages and coordinates the procurement of clinical laboratory supplies, equipment
• Monitors standing orders, negotiates supply contracts, continually evaluates pricing, and terminates agreements with vendors
• Assists in developing, evaluating, and implementing new procedures and protocols
• Evaluates employees’ work performance, provides orientation and training
• Ensures all instrument maintenance is performed and documented; administers all established quality control procedures and troubleshoots instruments effectively when appropriate
• Maintains medical laboratory supplies inventory, determines inventory level, anticipates needed supplies
• Initiates, designs, and completes special projects, process improvements,, or new method implementation in the Clinical Laboratory
• Maintains laboratory productivity, monitors workload, and ensures all workflow processes are completed within acceptable time frames.
• Assists in the review, interpretation, and reporting of test results
• Ensures that safety protocols are followed in all aspects of the daily activities and any potential safety hazards are addressed and corrected immediately
• Enforces universal precautions and use of personal protective equipment for laboratory personnel
• Develops and follows continuing education program for Clinical Laboratory employees as required by CAP and State clinical regulatory guidelines
• Maintains departmental quality assurance and quality control programs, taking corrective action when indicated
• Prepares new SOPs, reviews, and updates existing procedures as necessary for compliance
• Prepares laboratory for CAP, CLIA, and State agencies inspections and provides reports as needed
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education And Experience

• B.S. degree in Medical Technology or Chemical, Biological, or Physical Science

Preferred: M.S. degree

• 5+ years of clinical laboratory experience with at least four (4) years’ experience in the molecular discipline
• 1+ year of supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership role

Licensure And Certifications

• Preferred: Certified as Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Molecular Biology, by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) OR equivalent certification
• Required: New York State Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Salary range: $78,000 - $130,000 Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. Sonic Healthcare USA, reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any difference between actual compensation and the posted range will be based on factors other than race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy) or national origin.
