Tempus AI, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled laboratory leader to oversee a cutting-edge molecular sequencing workflow and ensure rapid, high-quality data output.

You will monitor quality controls, instrument maintenance, and compliance with CLIA/CAP/NYSDOH standards, while mentoring a team of technologists and coordinating training and onboarding. This full-time role requires strong communication, delegation, and collaboration across interdisciplinary teams to advance cancer-related diagnostics.

Qualifications

• MD/PhD/MS/BS with required clinical lab experience as listed.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to delegate.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment.
• Ability to plan and carry out scientific programs with minimal direction.
• Desire to build products that improve cancer care and save lives.
• Impeccable attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily oversight of a molecular workflow with rapid sequencing turnaround.
• Monitor QC, instrument maintenance, and quality assurance activities.
• Ensure remedial actions when test systems deviate from specs.
• Perform quality review for samples from extraction to sequencing.
• Maintain CLIA/CAP/NYSDOH compliance.
• Schedule training and competency assessments for personnel.
• Mentor clinical molecular technologists and extraction technologists.
• Maintain laboratory safety and compliance with safety protocols.
• Utilize automation and robotics to standardize the discovery pipeline.
• Schedule training and onboarding for new hires.
