Job summary

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) in Bethesda, MD seeks a contractor to support cellular molecular therapeutic research. Qualifications

• Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of four (4) years of experience in performing molecular biology procedures past terminal degree.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in animal procedures.
• Strong communications skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical experience needed to assist in studying the basic principles of plant and animal life.
• Plan and administer biological research programs.
• Study basic principles of plant and animal life, such as origin, relationship, development, anatomy, and function.
• Identify, classify, and study structure, behavior, ecology, physiology, nutrition, culture, and distribution of plant and animal species.
• Perform DNA prep and DNA sequencing on blood and bone marrow samples.
• Support murine bone marrow transplant studies.
• Develop protocols for laboratory equipment and new techniques.
• Assist with performing basic laboratory experiments and procedures.
• Monitor operational procedures to ensure conformance to standards.
• Provide training to students and other personnel in the use of laboratory equipment.
