Job summary

GAP SOLUTIONS INC. is seeking an experienced Biologist to support NIH, MD-based research programs. The role focuses on performing DNA sequencing, RNA purification, and other molecular biology techniques, with an emphasis on accurate record-keeping and protocol adherence.

You will collaborate with senior researchers, maintain lab equipment, and contribute to data analysis and reporting. A Bachelor's degree is required, with advanced degrees preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Biology, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Three years of specialized experience plus a Bachelor’s degree is equivalent to a Master’s degree.
• Minimum of five years of laboratory experience.
• Expertise in molecular biology techniques.
• Knowledge of maintaining accurate and detailed records.
• Knowledge of proper laboratory disposal methods and safety procedures.
• Experienced using MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory procedures following protocols including DNA sequencing, cloning and extraction, RNA purification, or gel electrophoresis.
• Operate basic lab equipment such as computers, centrifuges, UV light box and camera, quantitation instruments, PCR and qPCR instruments, plate reader.
• Evaluate new technologies to enhance or complement current research.
• Produce final reports and presentations of experiments and findings for distribution internally.
• Coordinate daily operations, including inventory tracking, processing, distribution, storage, and handling of biological materials.
