Job summary

A-TEK Inc. is seeking a Molecular Testing Technician to perform non-research molecular testing of samples for potential biological threat agents at our Phoenix laboratory.

The role requires conducting PCR-based assays, maintaining chain-of-custody, and preparing detailed reports while ensuring safe operation of equipment. The candidate will perform routine calibrations, adhere to safety protocols, and participate in a demanding 7-day-per-week schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, molecular biology, or related biological science field.
• Minimum one year of laboratory bench experience with PCR, aseptic techniques, and biological assays.
• Laboratory training that is assigned or accompanies a course does not meet the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct PCR-based assays and other molecular tests on incoming samples.
• Maintain chain-of-custody documentation for all samples.
• Prepare and submit detailed test reports.
• Perform routine equipment calibration and routine maintenance.
• Adhere to proper handling, storage, and safety protocols for all materials.
• Participate in a 7-day-per-week laboratory schedule, including weekend and holiday shifts as needed.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of test methods and program requirements.
