Job summary

Georgetown University seeks a Research Technician I to join a pediatric cancer research program. You will work with senior lab members and report to the Principal Investigator, performing hands-on molecular biology and cell culture tasks.

Responsibilities include maintaining mammalian cell lines, conducting assays such as Q-RT-PCR, ELISA, immunoblot and immunofluorescence, preparing solutions, and ensuring lab safety and compliance on campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s-level training in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
• 1–2 years of academic research experience preferred.
• Experience in basic molecular biology and mammalian cell culture preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and Word; safety training may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic molecular biology research in a laboratory setting.
• Maintain mammalian cell lines and conduct assays (ELISA, Q-RT-PCR, immunoblot, immunofluorescence).
• Carry out electrophoresis, protein extraction, immunoprecipitations and cell/tissue assays.
• Prepare solutions, media, stains and buffers; conduct routine lab maintenance.
• Collaborate with senior lab personnel and report to the Principal Investigator.
