Job summary

The Kapur Laboratory at The Pennsylvania State University seeks two full-time Research Lab Technologists to support molecular biology, infectious disease, and global health research. You will work with faculty and senior staff to generate high-quality data and maintain compliant, efficient lab operations in a world-class environment.

Responsibilities include performing PCR-based techniques, sequencing workflows, data management, and contributing to manuscripts and lab meetings.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with core molecular biology techniques, particularly PCR-based methods.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to follow protocols and maintain biosafety/regulatory standards.
• Experience working effectively in a collaborative research team.

Responsibilities

• Perform molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/RT-PCR, gel, cloning, protein analysis).
• Prepare sequencing libraries, normalize samples, and document workflows.
• Maintain thorough lab notebooks and electronic records for protocols and results.
• Assist with experimental design, execution, and troubleshooting with faculty.
• Maintain safe, compliant lab operations and equipment maintenance.
