Job summary

Technimark in Asheville, NC seeks a Tool Room Supervisor to lead the tool room, schedule work, and drive training and continuous improvement in a high-volume mold manufacturing environment. You will oversee safety, 5S/GMP standards, and ensure proper documentation and coordination with production leadership.

Use Maximo for mold data, coordinate weekend coverage, and participate in root-cause analysis to prevent downtime and optimize operations.

Qualifications

• Supervises tool room staff and assigns tasks, including training (on-the-job) and performance oversight.
• Enforces safety rules (OSHA/ TM) and GMP/5S, safe handling of loads and PPE.
• Maintains mold data in Maximo and coordinates with Plant/Section Managers.
• Contributes to root-cause analysis and problem solving during mold breakdowns.

Responsibilities

• Lead tool room staff by communicating expectations, scheduling work, and training.
• Coordinate shift hand-offs with other supervisors and ensure clean, organized work cells.
• Maintain GMP/5S housekeeping and safety compliance; enforce policies.
• Be the weekend contact for plant/section managers and monitor mold status.
• Document mold data in Maximo and support mold service/repair decisions.

Job description

• Ensure OSHA and TM safety rules and regulations are always adhered to, including proper use of cranes and rigging equipment, safe handling of suspended loads, PPE, and exterior door security, and all related matters are dealt with using the resources within the company in line with the company’s safety policy. Must also perform regular Safety Audits on tool room personnel, processes, and equipment.
• Lead tool room staff by communicating job expectations, scheduling work, scheduling training (including oversight of OJT), planning, monitoring progress, conflict resolution and trouble shooting.
• Coordinates with other TR Supervisors to ensure effective shift-to-shift hand-off including a joint walk-through of the tool room, verifying that employees are communicating with oncoming shift regarding housekeeping and current work order assignments.
• Maintain housekeeping standards (GMP/5S) to ensure a clean and safe work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Communicate, enforce and maintain all company policies and procedures per the Employee Handbook.
• Utilizes 5S Principles to create and maintain organized work cells.
• Be the main point of contact from Toolroom for Plant and Section Managers during the weekend and outside of normal business hours (In absence of Tool Room Manager).
• Prioritize production support in the event of mold breakdowns where service/repair can be performed without removing the mold from the machine.
• Accountable for managing company resources in an efficient and effective manner.
• Ensures Mold Status report is being followed and that proper communication takes place when molds are complete and ready for return to production.
• Assure mold data is documented properly within Maximo and within other Technimark standards
• Utilizes problem solving and troubleshooting skills to ensure that all team members can identify root causes and take fast effective action to resolve the problems at hand.
