Job summary

Summit Polymers is seeking an Engineer, Manufacturing (Molding) to lead hands-on plastic injection molding for automotive interior trim, consoles, and kinetic parts. You will work under supervision to provide technical leadership to manufacturing teams, focusing on operational excellence and process robustness.

The role requires strong molding tooling know-how, automation planning, and collaboration with plant staff to ensure safe, high-quality production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar technical discipline or 5+ years in a technical injection molding role.
• Hands-on mold process development with Krauss Maffei/VanDorn machines preferred.
• Molding automation / EOAT knowledge and robot programming ability (Wittmann) preferred.
• Knowledge of gas-assist, sequential valve gate processing, multi-material molding.
• Ability to read and critique drawings to ensure high-quality mold designs.

Responsibilities

• Develop molding tool and process for new products, including part design input and optimization.
• Participate in mold design reviews focusing on mold size, gates, cooling and ejection.
• Develop molding automation plan including EOAT, degators and secondary equipment; source tooling as needed.
• Lead mold trials, process development, and corrective action plans.
• Support and improve production molding operations for safety, quality, and efficiency.
