Job summary

The Nassal Company is seeking a Mold Maker to construct, maintain, and repair production molds for themed entertainment and architectural projects in the Orlando area. You will produce high-quality FRP, silicone, and composite molds while upholding safety, efficiency, and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of mold-making experience required.
  • Experience with FRP, silicone, composite, or epoxy mold systems required.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and technical documents.
  • Strong understanding of mold fabrication techniques and production processes.
  • Familiarity with themed entertainment, scenic fabrication, casting, or architectural fabrication preferred.
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Commitment to ongoing skill development and artistic growth.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety regulations, PPE requirements, and shop procedures.
  • Build fiberglass (FRP), silicone, and composite molds according to project drawings and specifications.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and project documentation.
  • Apply mold-making materials, including silicone, fiberglass, epoxy, and composite systems.
  • Prepare surfaces through sanding, finishing, detailing, and mold preparation.
  • Perform mold repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Safely operate hand and power tools, including grinders, drills, sanders, and cutting equipment.
  • Inspect molds for quality, accuracy, and production readiness.
  • Support molding schedules and project deadlines.
  • Assist Lead Mold Makers with complex projects and department workflow.
  • Maintain organized work areas and follow all safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with Sculpt, Cast, Scenic, and Project Management teams.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Job description

The Molder is responsible for the construction, preparation, maintenance, and repair of production molds used in themed entertainment, architectural, and specialty fabrication projects.

This role supports the Mold Department by producing high-quality FRP, silicone, and composite molds while maintaining safety, efficiency, and quality standards. The Mold Shop produces molds used throughout Nassal's Cast Division and works closely with Sculpt and Casting teams to support world-class themed environments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Fabrication environment with exposure to dust, noise, and odors.
  • Regular use of PPE such as earplugs, safety glasses, and gloves is required.
  • May be required to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends based on project schedules.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift, sand, mask, and move materials up to 30 lbs. as needed.
  • Comfortable standing, bending, and performing repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to safely use tools and materials.
  • Must maintain continuous awareness of hazards and enforce safety practices.
