Job summary

Airlite Plastics is seeking a Mold Specialist to join our Omaha, NE team. You will set up and operate high-speed injection molding machines, ensuring product quality, and coordinating with QA and packing teams.

The role requires an Associate's degree or equivalent, 1–2 years of related experience, and English reading/writing proficiency. You will routinely monitor cycles, adjust colors, and maintain safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • 1–2 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents in English (safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures).
  • Ability to write routine reports in English; speak effectively with employees and supervisors in English.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Upholds and supports organizational goals and values.
  • Take the initiative to ask for and offer help when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Is certified to run molding-related equipment on one half (North or South) of the Traditional building.
  • Performs a daily Beginning of Shift audit of the assigned area with the outgoing Molding Specialist.
  • Performs machine start-ups and shutdowns to required procedures.
  • Removes contamination from mold tips and replaces tips as needed.
  • Provides product acceptability information to packers after machine adjustments and/or color changes.
  • Reviews production schedule and makes color/material changes during the shift to prevent overruns.
  • Reviews floor inspection and diameter size reports with area supervisor/QA technicians and follows up on corrections.
  • Performs quality inspections and documents product quality and color shades to ensure specifications.
  • Communicates with quality auditors and Lead Molding Specialist regarding questionable product and makes timely adjustments.
  • Monitors cycle times to required procedures and maintains quality, scrap, and machine efficiency in the area.
  • Maintains safety and housekeeping, reports potential hazards, and ensures coworker safety.

How would you contribute?

This role is a contributing member of Airlite Plastics team, located in Omaha, NE. As a Mold Specialist you are a key to continued growth and success of Airlite. This role is responsible for Setting up and operates high-speed injection molding machines by performing the following duties.



  • Is certified to run all molding-related equipment on one half (North or South) of the Traditional building.

  • Performs a daily \"Beginning of Shift\" audit of assigned area with outgoing Molding Specialist.

  • Performs machine start-up's and shut down's to required procedures.

  • Removes contamination from tip areas of molds to required procedures. Removes and replaces tips to required procedures.

  • Provides product acceptability information to packers after completion of machine adjustments and/or color changes.

  • Reviews production schedule, makes color and material changes during the shift in order to prevent overruns.

  • Reviews with area supervisor and/or quality assurance technicians the floor inspection and diameter size check reports and follows up on items needing technical corrections.

  • Performs quality inspections and documents product quality and color shades to assure product is within specifications.

  • Communicates with quality auditors and/or Lead Molding Specialist regarding questionable product and makes timely adjustments.

  • Monitors cycle times to required procedures.

  • Responsible for quality, scrap and machine efficiency in assigned area.

  • Maintains safety and housekeeping expectations, reports potential machine or work hazards, responds immediately to emergency machine problems, and insures the safety of co-workers within designated work area.

  • Communicates with other shifts about machine problems, quality problems, and changes in molding process and handling.

  • Assists in training and development of others.

  • Must have ability to perform duties in either Traditional or IML

  • Responsible for reporting food safety problems to management.

  • Meets safety, housekeeping and attendance expectations.

  • Other duties as assigned.
